The Abandoned House

Many years ago I stayed here
Now it’s sad to see,
The creeper rooting in the wall
And the crumbling masonry.

One fan still hangs from its beam
The cankers are growing wild in the yard
Bougainvillea blossoms cover the floor
A long gate-post is still standing guard

This was a house once live in
Where guest came and went
And life was li9ved laughter
And sound of merriment.

Now it stands an empty shell
All the door and windows stand ajar
Waiting for the sounds of life
Which seems very far.
